Matthew Ekberg serves as Senior Policy Advisor for Regulatory Affairs and Head of the IIF London Office. Matthew is responsible for leading regulatory engagement on matters concerning standards of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS), the Financial Stability Board (FSB), the Financial Action Taskforce (FATF) and regional and national banking supervisory authorities in the policy areas of capital, liquidity, cross-border resolution planning and financial crime. Matthew previously served as the Vice President for International Policy at the Bankers Association for Finance and Trade (BAFT), the international affiliate of the American Bankers Association (ABA), where he led the government advocacy initiatives of the organization globally. He has also worked on trade, investment, competition and corporate finance matters for an international law and consulting firm in London and served in the Majority Leader’s Office in the US House of Representatives and with the Office of the US Trade Representative (USTR) in Washington, DC. Matthew holds degrees from The George Washington University and The George Washington University Law School. He is an Advisory Board member for the Future of Financial Intelligence Sharing (FFIS) Project, organized through the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) Centre for Financial Crime and Security Studies in London.
