Jelena Madir
Jelena Madir is a Chief Counsel at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). She heads the Financial Law Unit, which provides advisory services to governments in the areas of corporate governance, insolvency, access to finance and FinTech. Before her appointment as the Head of the Financial Law Unit in 2016, Ms Madir spent seven years as a transactional lawyer at EBRD, where she worked on a variety of EBRD’s lending and equity investment operations, and one year in the Office of the Chief Compliance Officer.
Prior to joining EBRD, she worked as a finance and capital markets lawyer at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP in the US, Shearman & Sterling LLP in Germany, and Privredna Banka and DLA Piper LLP in Croatia. She received her Juris Doctor from Columbia University School of Law and completed her undergraduate studies in Government and Asian studies at Dartmouth College. She is admitted to practice law in Washington, DC; England and Wales; and the Republic of Ireland.
