First Secretary (Economics) Permanent Mission of Singapore and Chair, Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT)

Esther Peh is First Secretary (Economic) at the Permanent Mission of Singapore in Geneva, Switzerland. She covers all issues relating to Trade in Goods at the WTO, including NAMA, Rules, Information Technology Agreement (ITA) Expansion and the ongoing Environmental Goods Agreement (EGA) plurilateral. She also currently chairs the WTO Committee on Technical Barriers to Trade.

Prior to assuming her post in Geneva, she served at the Ministry of Trade and Industry in Singapore and was Singapore’s co-lead on TBT, SPS and Horizontal issues such as Competitiveness, SMEs and Regulatory Coherence for the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiations. She also fronted negotiations in free trade agreements including the EU-Singapore FTA, Turkey-Singapore FTA, Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, and the bilateral economic partnership agreement between Singapore and Chinese Taipei (Market Access, Rules of Origin and Trade Remedies). She also spent some time in the Foreign Economic Policy Division, where she undertook economic research, strategic planning and policy development for Singapore’s export promotion agency.
