As a Senior Consultant at Blue Sela GmbH Markus Wohlgeschaffen advises financial institutions and corporates in matters of Trade and Supply Chain Finance Auditing. He focuses on financial, technical and risk aspects in connection with the utilization of traditional and innovative Supply Chain Fiance instruments. Before that he was a main contributor for the establishment of TrustBills, a web-based marketplace for Trade Receivables. Markus is a senior trade finance & services expert who previously worked for UniCredit Group and its predecessor banks for more than 30 years. He has acquired deep 360 ° know-how in all areas of trade finance and risk management.
He began his international career in Japan where he was responsible for all sales activities of foreign trade products to multinational corporations and correspondent banks. As a next step, he has set up a nationwide sales network for Trade Finance & Services products in Italy. After more than eleven years of responsible sales responsibility in Japan and Italy, he assumed the position of Global Product Head, responsible for all of UniCredit Group’s traditional and innovative trade and supply chain finance products. His responsibilities included the development and management of all trade products, the portfolio management of all trade assets and the optimization of business processes to increase productivity through central IT platforms and business administration centers as well as outsourcing initiatives.
As a senior member of various industry committees, Markus Wohlgeschaffen has been actively involved in many important trade finance initiatives. He was also Chairman of BAFT’s Global Trade Industry Council (GTIC) and member of the Advisory Board of the ICC Banking Commission, the Board of Trustees of the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics in Dortmund and the SWIFT Corporate Advisory Group (CAG) and is still active in the World Trade Board. In addition, he worked as a consultant for the Italian Export Credit Agency (SACE) and the ICC Banking Commission. He regularly publishes articles and acts as a speaker at national and international conferences.
